Kodak Nexpress 2100+

At 2x2 Digital Print Factory, we print on the first digital-offset machine in Bulgaria, Kodak NexPress 2100+. The technology incorporated into the NexPress, developed by Heidelberg and Kodak, is globally recognized as one of the leading in the industry. The machine prints without plates, allowing to print individual copies at a competitive price. We are particularly competitive in the segment from 1 to 1000 copies with a sheet size of 35/50 cm.

Kodak's Patented Gloss Varnish Application Formula

Kodak's patented NexGlosser unit is a unique machine, unparalleled in the industry, allowing to put an overall gloss varnish with unmatched smoothness and shine.
Kodak's patented fifth printing unit can be loaded with transparent toner, which applies a matte finish to the printed sheet. The software calculates micro-registration on the sheet caused by the different levels of color layering. The application of the transparent toner layer in the fifth unit is done using a negative matrix – in other words, the layering is minimized where the micro-registrations are greatest, and vice versa. As a result, the applied varnish layer is perfectly smooth, incomparably smoother than any overprint or UV varnishes used in offset technologies.
The varnished sheet then passes through the Kodak NexGlosser – a separate machine, whose sole purpose is to gloss over the matte finish, giving it a crystal shine that enhances the sense of depth and volume of the image.

The effect is so impressive that it's hard to describe. You have to see it!

High Productivity (up to 2100 sheets/hour)

The Kodak NexPress 2100 plus digital offset machine can realistically print up to 2100 copies per hour, or over a million copies per month. This makes it one of the most productive machines in the industry.
Thanks to this impressive productivity, the 2x2 Digital Print Factory can process and fulfill a huge number of customer orders in a relatively short time without compromising on print quality.

Printing on a Wide Range of Substrates, 80-350 g/m²

Thanks to the offset printing principle borrowed, by transferring color to the sheet through rubber printing rollers, the Kodak NexPress 2100 plus can print on a wide variety of substrates in terms of structure and weight. Due to this feature, NexPress drastically differs from the vast majority of digital printers and closely approaches the classic offset machine.
2x2 Digital Print Factory works with a wide range of paper substrates from 80 to 350 g/m² with various textures (coated – gloss and matte, uncoated, absorbent, textured, colored, etc.), which have been tested and calibrated according to Kodak's requirements for quality and trouble-free operation.

Printing on Structural, Self-adhesive, and Transparent Materials

In addition to printing on traditional coated and uncoated papers, the Kodak NexPress prints excellently on some more unconventional materials such as textured and self-adhesive papers.

Color Management

Unlike lower-class digital printing machines, the Kodak NexPress 2100+ allows excellent color management, with color reproduction surpassing that of many offset printers. The machine has a built-in colorimetric control software system and can work with customer-defined print profiles, including Fogra 39, the leading standard for color management in the printing industry.
For this reason, the machine is suitable for printing color samples and single test copies of high-quality multi-copies such as magazines and catalogs, requiring good color management and high accuracy in printing. Unlike all printers, the print structure with Kodak NexPress is almost identical to offset, thanks to the use of rubber rollers to transfer toner to the sheet. The presence of an offset dot closely approximates the color samples printed on NexPress to real offset prints.

Two-sided Printing in One Pass, Perfect Register

The Kodak NexPress 2100 plus automatically aligns the print register to the front edge of the sheet. The software continuously monitors the register to ensure perfect color matching.
The machine has an automatic sheet reversal system during printing (perfector).
When reversing, the sheet is oriented in the same direction as the front side was printed. Thus, automatic register control guarantees perfect alignment of the prints on both sides of the sheet.

Print field 35/50 cm

Unlike most of its competitors in the industry, which print in A3 or A3+ format (max. 32/46 cm), the Kodak NexPress is fully equivalent in size to the classic offset quarter-sheet (1/4 of 70/100, or 35/50 cm), with the maximum printable area being 337 x 487 mm – three to five centimeters wider in each dimension compared to the competition.
Even when the client's files are in A3 format, one of the significant advantages of the wider print field is the ability to include crop marks, scales, and explanatory texts, which facilitate finishing operations and minimize possible errors.
To double the production capacity, 2x2 has 2 units of this type of printing machine.
